Tips For Warm Weather Waxing

Waxing is a great way not only to get rid of unwanted body hair, but also to slow down how quickly that unwanted hair regrows. With regular waxing, hair regrowth will slow down dramatically and you’ll find yourself scheduling waxing appointments further and further apart. There are a few things to keep in mind about waxing in warm weather, especially if you’ll be heading to the pool or the beach any time soon.

The best rule of thumb is to avoid tanning and extended sun exposure for a couple of days after your waxing appointment. You’ll even want to avoid hot showers or baths, saunas and steam rooms right after your appointment too. The direct heat on your newly waxed parts can traumatize the new skin that’s been exposed during the appointment. When you do head back out into the sun, be sure to use a good sunscreen on those new skin cells.

You’ll also want to get your pores to close rather than open up. Look for a tea-tree based moisturizer. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic, and its cooling effect will help your skin to naturally close pores opened up by the warm wax. If you’ve had a bikini wax, you may want to wear cotton underwear and clothing to let the waxed area breathe.

Avoid perfumed lotions or alcohol-based products such as colognes immediately after your appointment. Waiting a day or so will make you much more comfortable. And once your skin has calmed down, usually in a few days, feel free to get back into your regular exfoliating routine.
