Helen has been involved in the beauty industry since 1979, starting in retail cosmetic sales. This experience involved training from several cosmetic companies, including Max Factor, Physician’s Formula, Loreal, and Revlon. After becoming a freelance makeup artist, Helen received additional training from cosmetic companies including Chanel, Givenchy, Ultima II, Borghese and others. After completing the esthetician program in beauty school, Helen became licensed by the State of Hawaii. She began doing facials in 1990 and worked at a skin care salon before opening Helen’s Haven, Skin Care Clinic, in 1994. Helen’s Haven moved to its current location, with five treatment rooms in August 2005.
Helen’s Haven is more than a place to relax. They are the first and only clinic that has Certified MediEsthetic Specialists in the State of Hawaii. As MediEsthetic Specialists, they can offer various skin peels.

After working through the challenges of opening a business in Hawaii, Helen became active in the business community. She is still an active member of Small Business Hawaii and a former member of the Board of Directors. Helen was also the president of the Young Entrepreneurs of Small Business Hawaii in 1999 and 2000. She then began an involvement with the Kahala Business Association and became its president. She has organized conferences for young entrepreneurs and has been a featured speaker at many events locally and in Europe.
Awards include Outstanding Young Entrepreneur, 1997. In 1998 Helen’s Haven was one of Pacific Business News fastest fifty growing companies in the State of Hawaii. Helen’s Haven was a Small Business Hawaii Success Story in 1999.
Helen also conducts periodical seminars in the community about skin care and looking good on the outside and inside. “Healthy Skin 101” seminars are geared towards teenagers and are conducted periodically. Helen incorporates her feelings about positive attitudes and educates about acne care. Encouraging teenagers, and letting them know they are special is one of Helen’s passions.
Helen is a leader in her church, Destiny Christian Church. She leads the hospitality and prayer ministries.
